Careers at PeakShift
PeakShift builds the data infrastructure that Ontario's solar industry runs on. We're founder-led, founder-built, and growing with intention. When we hire, we hire for the long term.
“Every line of code, every utility partnership, every Green Button certification has been built by one engineer. The product is real, the infrastructure is live, and the market is large. We don't hire to fill headcount — we hire when a specific person would make a genuine, measurable difference.”
Our Principles
We use real utility data — official Green Button channels, directly from regulated providers — or we don't operate. Estimates don't belong in energy infrastructure. Every data point we return is verified at the source, not approximated from a model.
We believe a focused team of exceptional people outperforms a large team of average ones. One engineer currently serves 4.1 million households across six utilities. When we grow, we hire for craft and long-term fit — not to fill headcount. Every person who joins should multiply the entire team's output.
Homeowners trust us with read access to their utility accounts. That access is official, encrypted end-to-end, and revocable at any time. This is not a feature or a compliance checkbox — it is a commitment we make to every person whose data touches our infrastructure.
Ontario's clean energy transition is a real problem with real stakes. Every API endpoint that works reliably, every proposal generated faster, every deal closed on real data instead of guesswork — it compounds into something that matters. We build accordingly.
Open roles
PeakShift is growing its product and revenue base before growing the team. We don't hire to fill headcount or hit a hiring metric. When a role opens, it is because there is a specific, well-defined problem that needs a specific person to own it — and the business is ready to support them properly. If you are drawn to what we are building and think there is a genuine match, the best move is to send a note. We read everything.
Future Team
Own the ESPI XML ingestion pipeline. Build real-time event streaming at scale. Design the reliability layer for a production API serving critical energy infrastructure across Ontario. The technical work is concrete: data parsing, normalization, webhook delivery, and the systems that make a 99.5% uptime SLA real.
Help platform builders succeed with the PeakShift API. Own documentation quality, SDK libraries, integration guides, and the developer community. Be the technical bridge between our infrastructure and the solar software ecosystem. The best candidate here is as comfortable writing code samples as writing for an audience of engineers.
Expand PeakShift across Ontario's solar installer and platform market. Data-driven and relationship-led. Own the full funnel from first contact to long-term account health. Deep knowledge of the Ontario clean energy landscape — installers, utilities, incentive programs, and the provincial solar policy environment — is a genuine advantage here.
Not hiring now — but worth connecting
If the work we are doing sounds like your kind of problem — not someday-maybe, but a genuine match for how you think and what you want to build — send a note. We respond when there is something real to discuss.
We read every message. Response time varies — we're building.
